Thank you to Sam Pulice of Mojave Copy and Printing for sharing this with us. Sam used our QReate & Track application to generate QR Codes for print advertisements in a local business journal.
Below is a picture of two advertisements that incorporate QR Codes.
The QR Code for Sam’s company took people to a “Success Stories” page. Thus, people could read testimonials about Mojave Copy and Printing from their mobile phone, at their own convenience.

Should not advertisers have a short statement along with the QR code to explain it’s use?

Hi Steve — I certainly look forward to the day when all people will see a QR Code and know exactly what to do with it.
Until then, including some text around a QR Code may help increase the success of that response method.
Of course, other factors — such as the target audience (i.e. people reading “Website” magazine might have a much better idea of what a QR Code is than readers of other topics) and the size of the print ad will play a role in deciding what you should or cannot put to describe what a QR Code does.
But overall, we do think that putting text that helps describe what the QR Code can do may help increase the success of that response method.
Thanks very much for commenting on this post! We appreciate it.
