Super Bowl Sunday is just a few days away and here at the interlinkONE office we are MORE than ready for the big game! The past couple of weeks we have worn our favorite New England Patriots gear around the office and if you listen to the chatter in the hallways you will be sure to hear people talking about the big game.

To get ready for the game we decided to create a Super Bowl – themed QR Code. The QR Code directs people to a mobile website that was built with iFlyMobi. The website is full of Super Bowl history, a Super Bowl quiz , game day recipes, and more!

If you are just as excited for the game as we are what are you waiting for?! Take out your smartphone and scan the QR Code below!

Manicures and QR Codes

QR Codes are being used on just about everything these days and if I had to pick one way that they are being used the most I would say on packaging. So when I came across QR Codes being used across a whole set of packaging as well as on their marketing material, I knew that I had to share. The QR Codes that I found were on “SensatioNAIL” gel nail polish packaging.

The QR Codes linked to their website where you could find out more about the products, FAQ’s and more.

Big shout-out to one of our developers/engineers at interlinkONE for sharing the latest QR Code find. Ed Cianci shared this QR Code with us after his wife noticed it on her water bottle at the gym. The QR Code on the water bottle links to the ever-so-famous Planet Fitness video: “I lift things up and put things down“.

They also have put QR Codes on other water bottles that point to videos of their other commercials, including this one: “Bang..Bang..”

This is just another creative way to use QR Codes to drive the mobile audience to online content! Thanks to Ed for sharing this one with us.

Having lunch with some QR Codes

The QR Code links to their mobile website where you can make reservations, get directions and also view the menu.

AFC Champions – New England Patriots QR Code

The interlinkONE office is full of die-hard sports fans. Throughout the NFL Playoffs, the employees have worn their favorite New England Patriots gear to cheer on the team! And as you might expect, there were a lot of smiles in our office on Monday morning after the New England Patriots won the AFC Championship on Sunday.

Since we love sports and QR Codes (I am not sure which one we love more!), we decided to create a Patriots-themed QR Code. It directs people to a mobile website that was built with iFlyMobi. The website is full of New England Patriots history, random facts, videos, and more!

Note: We created the QR Code in color and we added a logo to the middle of the QR Code.

QR Code Used on Packaging for Board Game

As winter seems to have finally settled in here in New England, the usage of board games is certain to increase as people spend more time indoors.

And as much as I personally dislike snow, I am thankful that lousy weather led me to learn about the board game, Zero.

As you can see in the picture below, they have made print and packaging interactive by including a QR Code on the box.

Upon scanning the QR Code, people are directed to the website for the Zero game.

There, they can learn more about the game on their phones — whether it’s by watching a video, reading the rules, or connecting to one of their social networking profiles.

While there are certainly some things that they could have done better in executing this QR Code effort, I absolutely want to give them credit for taking this step. I think it’s a great way to try to reach the growing mobile audience as they seek to sell more of this product.

Big Truck, Big QR Code

I must send a thank you to @mattpooch for taking a picture of the QR Code below and sending it to me via Twitter.

As you can see, the QR Code is huge! And, the “Scan Me” directions are even bigger.

Of course, after seeing where it’s placed — on a massive truck — it makes sense as to why the QR Code and directions are so prominent.

I have no doubt that this truck will attract attention, simply due to its size. Here’s hoping that it helps to increase awareness of QR Codes as well to those that come near it!

I also wanted to mention one other thing. I was quite happy to see the website that the QR Code directed me to. No, it wasn’t massive by any means. Rather, it was perfectly optimized mobile website for my iPhone. Here is a screenshot of what I saw:

Shop for Tools via the QR Code on a Direct Mailer

As someone that is worked in the computer industry for too long, I have pretty much come to accept the fact I will never be handy with many tools.

And yes, that means it can be fairly embarrassing for me as my neighbors watch my wife handle a hammer, a screw gun, a ladder, etc., better than I can while we are working on our house!

Thus, when a company that sells tools reaches out to me with a marketing effort, chances are fairly high that I will not pay attention… However, if they provide a call-to-action that gets me excited, then they have a chance.

Here’s an example of how this recently happened. Below is a picture of a direct mail piece that I received at home:

I apologize for the blinding flash that appeared in the middle of the mail piece! But I can’t lie — after seeing the QR Code, I was motivated to find my smartphone and scan to see where they were going to send me.

The QR Code directed me to their corporate website, where I could browse and shop for tools. After a few moments, my lack of knowledge took of over, and I handed the phone to wife to continue the mobile shopping process.

However, the bottom line is this — the QR Code helped to make their direct mail piece interactive, and helped me (a potential consumer) to pay attention.

Scan the QR Code to locate a Post Office

On a recent trip to the post office (insert reason why here: I was mailing a bunch of John Foley’s books out) I happen to notice that they have placed a large QR Code right on the front door.

The QR Code linked to their locations page of their website where you can enter a zip code or a state and locate all of the post offices in that area. This is a great use of a QR Code in my opinion.

Pantone Color of the Year QR Code

Every year, Pantone presents their “Color of the Year”. After seeing their choice for 2012, I must say that it is a very nice color! The color is Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango.

Since I love design, color, and QR Codes, I thought I would take some time to show you how to create a QR Code using QReate & Track in this year’s Pantone “Color of the Year”.

In the QReate & Track application, start off by choosing what kind of QR Code you would like to create. In the screenshots below, I am creating a QR Code that will point to a website URL. Simply type the URL into the text box. Then, give it a Label — this can be useful in the future, so that you’ll know exactly why and what that QR Code was created for. (Also, note the “Folder” field in the screenshot below. That is an option that is available to registered users of QReate & Track to help them organize their QR Codes.)

Next, it’s time to assign a color to the QR Code. Click in the text box next to the “Pick a Color” label. There, you can simply enter the appropriate value of the color (click here to get the color information).

Now that I have my color chosen, I am ready to finish my QR Code! Just click the “Get Code” button — our system will generate the QR Code for you instantly.

After the QR Code appears in the dotted box, click the “Download Your QR Code!” link. Save the QR Code as a .png file, and then add it to your printed materials!
